Lahore Lions to play in CLT20 2014

Mohammed Hafeez-led Lahore Lions were the champions of the Faysal Bank T20 competition this year.

According to reports, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have received a formal invitation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to participate in the upcoming edition of the World T20 League (CLT20) which will be held in India later this year.

Lahore Lions, who were the champions of the Faysal Bank T-20 Cup 2013-14 - the domestic T20 competition of Pakistan - will be competing in the tournament, along with teams from India, South Africa, Australia, West Indies and Sri Lanka.

Faisalabad Wolves were the team from Pakistan to qualify last year but they failed to make it past the qualifying stage in the 2013 tournament, which was won by the Mumbai Indians.

The Misbah-ul-Haq led Wolves lost to the Lions team, which was captained by former Pakistan T20 skipper Mohammed Hafeez in the Faysal Bank competition this year.

The teams that have qualified so far for the 2014 edition are:
India: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) - winners of IPL 2014, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) - runners up of IPL 2014, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) - 3rd place in IPL 2014, Mumbai Indians (MI) - 4th place in IPL 2014.

Australia: Perth Scorchers - winners of Big Bash 2013-14, Hobart Hurricanes - runners up of Big Bash 2013-14.

South Africa: Dolphins - winners of Ram Slam 2013-14, Cape Cobras - runners up of Ram Slam 2013-14.

New Zealand: Northern Districts - winners of HRV Twenty20 2013-14.

Pakistan: Lahore Lions - winners of Faysal Bank T20 Cup 2013-14.

The winner of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League and the winner of Sri Lanka's domestic T20 competition with be the other teams to qualify for the 2014 edition of the CLT20 tournament.
